Teacher Abuse Begins Whenever EducRAT$ Need to Bury Truth

I am a teacher's intern and will be graduating in December. I have witnessed my mentor teacher screaming, yelling, yanking arms, shoving kids in their chair and pulling of shirt collars. I reported the incidents to my university supervisor and the vice-principal of the school. I asked to be anonymous and told them that I was very concerned about the safety of the children. The vice-principal assured me that all would be confidential, since I am just starting in my career and I was concerned about repercussions.

This was a month ago, yesterday, my mentor teacher evaluated me and gave me poor performance on my professionalism. She said that I should have come to her if I had a problem with her instead of going to the administration. So the whole story is out. In a conference with her and my supervisor, I confronted her with what I saw and she never denied it.

She later asked my supervisor that she wanted me to leave her classroom. The principal is the one who told the mentor teacher. I was made to feel like I was a criminal and that I had acted inappropriately. This has been overwhelming for me.

I struggled for so much whether I should even report what I witnessed and finally came to the conclusion that the safety of the 2nd graders in my class were more important to me than my career. Well, it looks like I will have to pay a huge price for speaking out and trying to get the teacher some help.

Please advise on what you think I should do. I am thinking of writing a letter to Child Protection Services and also to the parents of the students in the class to warn them about what I witnessed. I would really appreciate any input. I feel like I am all alone.
