I had about 8 or 9 kids who qualified for ESL in my classroom who were not serviced at all this year. My school district I know is getting funding for saying they have serviced these students. I found out at a website that the school district receives $710 per student that they say they have serviced. In my classroom alone that amounts to $5600 plus. Consider that there are 30+ classrooms in my school. Some of the teachers have been serviced, but there are several that have not been. Why one classroom was chosen over another is beyond me. It isn't fair to the kids, or myself. I am the one responsible for teaching these children. They hold me responsible for all of these children being able to learn how to read, write, and learn math.

Here is something to think about. If only half of the classrooms are serviced, then that leaves 15 who have not been. 8 students x 15 rooms =120 students who should have received services. 120 students x $710 per student= $85,200 of funding that is being stolen. What should I do? I am at a loss. I was ripped of my basketball job for defending kids last year, and now I see how poorly the ESL program is run at my school. I have debated whether or not to report it to the OSPI, but I am not sure if they would do anything or not. I have also thought of going to talk to the Superintendent about the situation, because who know if he actually knows or not. I shouldn't have to babysit administrators who should be capable of running a school. It ticks me off to no end! URGH!!!!!!

Any ideas? I need help! Thanks!

Sincerely,
Ben R. Anderson
